I believe I have always been a fairly skeptical individual. At the same time I like to think I’m open-minded as well. Since that may sound a bit contradictory, perhaps an example would be helpful.
Some people believe in ghosts. Some people believe in angels or even demons. While I have never seen an angel or a demon and I am skeptical with regard to their existence, I also am not able to rule that possibility out. I realize that as a human being I have a limited ability to perceive things. We cannot see ultraviolet light that a honey bee sees and we cannot hear some high-pitched sounds that a dog can hear.
Surely there are other things we are unable to perceive. How do I know that there aren’t other dimensions or plains of existence that we humans simply aren’t equipped to access?
Perhaps angels and demons or beings that people perceive as angels and demons exist in another dimension and have the ability to travel between their dimension and ours. We may not have the ability to access other dimensions but that does not mean that other dimensions do not exist. We don’t even know the limits of the universe or how consciousness works!
One thing I am absolutely certain of is that there are a staggering number of things we have no knowledge or awareness of whatsoever. Any scientist with an ounce of integrity would readily agree with that.
That absence of knowledge about such a vast array of subjects is one of the primary reasons I have arrived at the conclusion that I have only recently reached. And that conclusion is that beings from other planets, dimensions or perhaps even from beneath the oceans have been visiting us for a long time. How much our governments know about them is still a mystery despite the recent appearance of whistleblowers who have been making some pretty bold claims about the strange craft people have been reporting in our skies for decades at least.
It wasn’t the appearance of the whistleblowers that finally pushed me over edge and turned me into a believer, although that was probably a contributing factor. I would attribute it more to the unrelenting reports of encounters, sightings and abductions that have been occurring as long as I have been around to hear them.
I have had an interest in the UFO phenomenon for as far back as I can remember. I am not sure I would classify myself as an enthusiast since I do not have shelves packed with books or a collection of videos about UFOs. I have not spent hours researching the subject and I am not a member of any UFO-related organizations.
My wife and I were regular viewers of the X-files (perhaps Elon Musk was as well) when it was airing back in the 90s and I have a vivid memory of the poster that was on Fox Mulder’s office wall that featured a classic saucer-shaped UFO and the words, “I want to believe.”
I relate more to that poster now than I ever did since I felt the same way and now, instead of wanting to believe, I actually do believe. And that’s simply because at this point I have heard enough. That is not to say I do not wish to hear more about the subject. It just means I have heard enough over a long enough period of time to conclude that “they” are indeed visiting us.
Too many credible people have reported too many unexplained things for it all to be swamp gas, weather balloons or the planet Venus.
One of those credible people is my wife.
I feel a little ashamed that it has taken me this long to reach the conclusion she did 28 years ago when she saw something in the sky. It was far more compelling than my own sighting from many years before.
The Marble
To this day I am not even sure what I saw was an actual “sighting” but there was no question that I saw something.
What I do know is that I was just a child at the time. I would say I was perhaps eight to twelve years old at the time, making the year somewhere between 1966 and 1970. I was riding in the back seat of the family car alongside my brother while my father was driving and my mother was in the front passenger seat. It was early evening most likely around 7:00 and the light of the day was beginning to fade, indicating that it was probably fall or winter at the time. We were about a quarter mile from our home about 15 miles northwest of Boston. I am quite certain of the time of day because one of the things I remember clearly was where we were going that evening and what time we had to be there.
As we traveled more or less southwest on a quiet back road with only a few houses on it we approached a low-lying area where the road sometimes flooded in the spring due to its proximity to the river. A not terribly impressive river as far as size goes but one that I spent many a day playing on and around during my youth. The river was on our left and the 700 or so feet between the river and the road was quite damp, swampy and thick with brush and undergrowth.
I am not sure who saw it first but we certainly all got a look at it. I think my father may have stopped the car and even backed up a bit in order to get a better look at it. The object was low in the sky, just above the treetops and in front of us. It was hard to tell how far away it was but I had the impression that it was not terribly close to us at the time. If I had to guess, I would say it was at least a half-mile away.
It was probably two or three times the size of the largest full moon I had ever seen and was perfectly round like the moon. In addition to its size that set it apart from our planet’s natural satellite, its color also indicated that it was not just the moon looking particularly large and unusual that evening.
The object’s color is a bit hard to describe. The best way for me to do so is to compare it to a giant marble not unlike the kind we sometimes played with during those days. The colors were orange and white and they were blended much the same way they would be in a marble, similar to what might result if orange and white glass were blended while still in liquid form and then stirred just a time or two before being allowed to harden. Similar to the image below.

We were not able to see it for very long before it seemed to move away and was probably behind the pine trees which were numerous in the area. I do not recall actually seeing it move or disappear. It seemed like it was there for a few moments and than simply wasn’t.
There was nothing particularly dramatic about the sighting beyond the sighting itself. There was no “missing time” or abductions. At least none that I am aware of but I do recall arriving at our destination on time. We certainly all thought it was unusual but I do not recall any of us making a big deal out of it or telling anyone outside the family but it is possible that I simply do not remember doing so.
The Triangle
The sighting my wife experienced was a lot more convincing than my own and I readily admit some amount of jealousy about it. Had I seen what she did, I suspect I would have been convinced a lot sooner that these things are here and that they are real.
I documented her experience when it occurred and consulted that document while composing this post,
On the night of February 10, 1995 my wife was alone in her car returning home from her part-time evening job at a local newspaper. She was about a mile and a half from home when she noticed something unusual. She was traveling due west on a road that I would describe as mostly rural but with a few houses well-spaced out along the way.
What she saw was quite puzzling to her because at first it appeared to be a radio tower. Since she did not recall one ever being in that location before, she reached for the two-way radio to call me.
It is important to point out here that I have been somewhat of a radio geek since I was kid and always had receivers and scanners of various types to tinker with and listen to. At that time I had recently become interested in inexpensive two-way radios that were being offered by a retailer I was very familiar with. What made them particularly interesting to me was that they were not CB radios and were more like the type used by police and other emergency services but far less expensive.
I decided that it might be handy to have them in our cars and one at home so that we could communicate in the event of a break-down or some type of emergency so I purchased three of them. Cell phones certainly did exist at the time but were still pretty expensive and coverage was far less extensive than it is today. Dropping a few hundred dollars on two-way radios with no monthly user fee seemed like a pretty good deal to me at the time and the radios worked quite well for us.
I heard her call immediately and answered her within a few seconds. I was a bit baffled when she asked me if there was a new radio tower on the road she was driving on. Being a radio geek, there is no doubt that I would have taken note of any new towers in the area. I told her I did not think that there were any new radio towers in the area.
Perhaps 30 seconds passed before she called me on the radio again. This time she had determined that what she was seeing was not a radio tower at all and was some kind of flying craft. It appeared ahead of her and to her left and she soon realized it was moving slowly from left to right (south to north). It was flying just above the treetops and moving at a pretty slow pace. She slowed the car almost to a stop to observe it but did not feel comfortable coming to a complete stop so she rolled along slowly and watched it cross above the road ahead of her.
She noticed that it seemed to be completely silent, was shaped like something between a triangle and a boomerang and was about the size of a house. The leading edge of the craft was lined with red lights while the two corners at the rear each had a blue or whiteish colored light.
She later realized that she first believed she was looking at a radio tower because some of the lights on the bottom of the craft created a shaft of light that made it appear to be a thin vertical structure of some sort.
Feeling a bit unnerved about what she saw, she accelerated the car to a more normal speed and continued on towards home. She then called me on the radio again to report what she had seen. She turned her head to the right at least once to see if it was still visible and she was just barely able to see it before she lost sight of it behind the trees. She had the impression that it sped up significantly since she first saw it because it did not seem like it could have traveled as far as it did in just a few seconds but since she was driving she did not actually see it cover that distance.
What she told me on the radio got my attention to say the least. My first thought was that I wanted to see this thing so I ran to the back door. I stepped out on the landing and began to scan the sky as best I could. That side of our property was bordered by forest so I did not have a very good look towards the south where she was in relation to the house. I was disappointed that I was unable to see anything interesting or unusual but what was interesting to me was that it was completely quiet outside.
We were living in a pretty rural area with lots of forest lands around us so when I say it was quiet outside, I mean it was quiet. It was obvious to me that any conventional aircraft that was close to me at the time would be easily heard. In fact, it should have been even closer to me at that time compared to when she first saw it since its northerly direction of travel would have brought it even closer to our house. Needless to say, I was disappointed that I did not see it and frankly, a little pissed off. With my interest in UFOs, I would have absolutely loved to have seen something like that.
Compared to many other reported sightings, this one was pretty tame. Like my childhood sighting, there was no missing time since she arrived home at the expected time. She did not have any problems with her car stalling or any other electrical anomalies. I also noticed that there was absolutely no unusual interference on the two-way radio even when she was in close proximity to the craft. But we did wonder if they may have been listening to our radio transmissions!
She became a believer that night and has not wavered since. Without the benefit of an experience like that it took me a lot longer to come around and I still may not have quite the same conviction she does about the presence of these visitors.
Still, after years of thinking about it and hearing so many reports of other sightings, I am quite convinced that the UFO phenomenon is the result of intelligent beings visiting our world.
Where they are coming from and why they are visiting are the two big remaining questions that I will continue to wonder about.
